The ‘North Carolina Health Statistics Pocket Guide 2011,‘ a free publication from the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services’ State Center for Health Statistics, has been selected by the American Library Association as a Notable Government Document.

The 2011 Guide marks the 100th anniversary of the Center for Health Statistics and its collecting, analyzing and disseminating of data on the health status of North Carolinians. Published in August 2013, it provides a demographic snapshot of North Carolina and how the state relates to the whole of the nation, as well as where it ranks among other states in overall health and health outcomes.” The Guide is available at www.schs.state.nc.us/schs/data/pocketguide/2011.

The American Library Association announced the winners in its publication, LIBRARYJOURNAL, in an article that marks 30 years of selections by the Notable Government Documents Roundtable.  The Roundtable was formed to recognize excellence and raise awareness of information resources produced by all levels of government and promote their use. The Guide is among four North Carolina publications recognized by the Roundtable this year along with those from seven other states selected by the Roundtable.
