Flu Shot Season Is Here

Division of Public Health Director Penelope Slade-Sawyer receives her flu vaccine from Deborah Fetting, RN, at the Division of Public Health offices on Six Forks Road in Raleigh on Sept. 16, 2014.

Across DHHS, employees will be receiving messages regarding flu vaccines for the 2014-2015 flu season.

In the Raleigh area, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina and Maxim Healthcare Services will be providing flu shots to DHHS employees and their family members on Oct. 7 and Oct. 9, 2014.

Shots will be given on the Dorothea Dix Campus in Haywood Gym from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. both days. The shots will be provided on a first-come, first-serviced basis until the supply is depleted.

State Health Plan members need to bring a photo I.D. and their membership card. Family members not covered will be charged $30, to be paid by cash or check made to Maxim Healthcare. The shots will be administered by representatives of Maxim Healthcare Services.

Employees who work in State Operated Healthcare Facilities will be provided notices of scheduled times and locations for flu shot clinics at each facility as those arrangements are completed.
